Teaching Payroll: 8 Strategies for Success Learn how to produce better results and overcome common issues such as students not reading the material, trouble with completing forms & calculations accurately, and issues around career readiness.
Highlights for Payroll Accounting
We have emphasized topics most commonly addressed by all companies, and created targeted exercises to reinforce these concepts. Our solution contains trial access to QuickBooks trial software and an eLab license key which allows for automated grading of tests, practice sets, and the Continuing Payroll Problem.
This edition uses unique flowcharts that were inserted to visually represent the process of determining certain taxes (social security tax and Medicare tax). This is useful when an employee crosses an applicable threshold during the current period (either exceeds the Social Security tax wage base, or exceeds the Additional Medicare tax wage base during the current period), and it helps visually to understand the necessary steps in these instances.
Balance theory and practical skills.
We walk the student through the process of completing the forms and performing the calculations necessary to process payroll. Students master concepts and apply what they've learned by working through a progression of exercises. Case studies replicate real-world situations, giving your students the experience they need to be successful in today's workplace.
Ensure readiness with plenty of exercises.
Each chapter contains two practice sets to reinforce learning, and a third practice set included in the instructor support materials and eLab Homework Grader. A continuing project at the end of each chapter builds throughout the book to solidify concepts and best practices for students. The book concludes with a comprehensive, capstone project allowing students to demonstrate their ability to apply the concepts and skills that were learned.
